Some folks in Springfield, IL, called the Media Action Coalition, are organizing to put a community radio station on the air in that city. I’ll be speaking with them about community radio and my experiences with WEFT at a public meeting on Wed. June 28 from 7-9:00 pm held at the Springfield Public Library, 324 S. 7th in Springfield, in the Carnegie Room South. The purpose of this meeting is to get people oriented to and excited about community radio by talking about some of the things people can and are doing with community radio, as well as how community radio stations can be true alternative media by virtue of how they are organized and run. If you live in the greater Springfield, IL area –an area dearly in need of a community radio station–please consider coming out for this meeting.
